The Summer Retreat – This years theme “Grow Well”

This years retreat will be July 8th to July 12th, taking place at the Schertenleib’s cabin near Wilbur, WA.  This retreat is an opportunity for students to further their relationship with Christ and other followers of Christ, to encourage students to begin or continue a life of growing in Christ.   This trip is A LOT of fun!  The five days are packed full of games, swimming, delicious food, biblical teaching, personal devotional time, and group worship.    Both High School and Jr. High are encouraged to participate in the summer retreat.

Creation

Creation this year is July 22nd to July 26th, and takes place at the Gorge Amphitheater in George, WA.   This event showcases an unreal worship experience.  Students get an opportunity to listen, view, and experience a lot of Christian music in four music filled days.  Creation allows students to engage in a large production worship set that cannot be recreated in a church setting.  Students have an opportunity to worship with +25,000 fellow believers.  Due to the extremely large crowd, only High School students are welcome on this trip.

Rocky Boy Mission Trip

This year’s mission trip will take place July 29th to August 4th at Rocky Boy Indian Reservation in Northeast Montana.  Taking  place during the Rocky Boy’s powwow, where students will have a wonderful opportunity to experience Native American culture.  Our group has been asked to employ the Wellness Center in Rocky Boy Agency during the powwow.  A man named Mike Sandgrey has generously allowed our group in the past to use the Wellness Center (for showers, swimming, and fun), but during powwow all of his employees call in sick.  So Mike is left manning the Wellness Center by himself, and does not have an opportunity to go to the powwow.  So we will take over the Wellness Center for Mike.  Students will have an opportunity to serve over +400 people per day during the mission trip.  Our goal of this trip is to be a light on to the Reservation.  Both High School and Jr. High are welcome on this trip, but Jr. High must have an interview with me to make sure they understand what a mission trip is.

Along with our large trips, the youth group have a lot of local events throughout the summer; i.e. Osprey Baseball game, float trip, swimming, Friday night hangouts, movie nights, and much, much more.  If you are interested in any of these trips, please contact Johnny.  Also, please keep the youth group in your prayers this summer.  Pray that God will move amongst our students, and that He will draw them into a closer relationship with Him.

God Bless,

John Mcneese
